CHINESE DELICACIES

What is Dim Sum?

Dim Sum is considered a Chinese delicacy that can be enjoyed on any occasion, as appetiser, starter, lunch, snack, as side dish, or even as a main course or dessert. It can also be served at parties and receptions as a savoury accompaniment to drinks. There are many varieties of Dim Sum. Each variety has its own specific flavour, shape and pastry, filled with either meat, various types of fish, seafood including prawns, vegetables or sweets. The combination of pastry and filling of this Chinese delicacy creates a fine balance between the flavour and ‘bite’. Dim Sum can be prepared using a variety of cooking methods, such as steaming, frying, deep frying, oven baking or microwaving.

Dim Sum originated in China and literally means: "To touch your heart". This is because when you eat Dim Sum you always feel pleasant and satisfied.
