Restaurant Treasure

Restaurant Treasure

In the 90’s, the Dutch were only familiar with Chinese – Indonesian dishes that were available at the local Chinese. For this reason Ho’s was advised against opening a luxurious restaurant offering the most traditional of dishes. Undeterred by his advisors, Ho opened Restaurant Treasure on 1st December 1981 with a menu which included exotic dishes such as squirrelfish, Beggar’s Chicken, thousand year eggs, and of course Dim Sum.

The menu was widely discussed among culinary circles because of the origin of the dishes and Ho’s use of unusual ingredients, as was his striking presentation of intricate flowers, birds and fish.
